evcc Terms of Service
Effective Date: August 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the purchase and use of evcc sponsorship tokens through creem.io payment platform. By purchasing a sponsorship, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Parties and Acceptance
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you (“User”, “You”) and the evcc Core Team (“We”, “Us”, “Our”), represented by Michael Geers, Neuenkirchener Str. 23a, 49593 Bersenbrück, Germany, operating the evcc project at github.com/evcc-io.
By purchasing a sponsorship token, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase an evcc sponsorship. By purchasing, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
3. Sponsorship Tiers and Features
3.1 Available Tiers
We offer the following sponsorship options:
- Yearly Sponsorship: Recurring subscription billed annually
- Lifetime Sponsorship: One-time payment for permanent access
3.2 Included Features
Sponsorship unlocks:
- All electric vehicle charger integrations
- All heat pump integrations
- Advanced features (modbus proxy, etc.)
- Additional local features that may be added in future releases, at our discretion
3.3 Future Features
We may introduce additional optional cloud services (such as third-party API access) that require additional fees. We may also introduce commercial features (such as load management, fleet operations, or similar functionality aimed at commercial use cases) that are offered under a separate tier. Sponsorships (recurring and lifetime) cover local sponsor features as described above, but may not include future cloud services with ongoing external costs or commercial features.
3.4 Cloud Services
We currently offer optional cloud services — Remote Access (a personal domain on evcc.cloud) and the Optimizer service — to users with an active sponsorship at no additional charge. These services are provided on an “as available” basis:
- We do not guarantee availability, uptime, or uninterrupted operation of cloud services.
- Remote Access is limited to one personal domain per sponsorship.
- We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue cloud services, or offer them as separately priced services, at any time. Material changes will be announced on our blog (https://docs.evcc.io/de/blog/) at least 30 days in advance.
- Section 10.1 (continued use of previously installed versions) does not apply to cloud services, as they depend on our hosted infrastructure.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment Processing
All payments are processed through creem.io (operated by Armitage Labs OÜ, Telliskivi Street 57b/1, Tallinn 10412, Estonia) as our merchant of record. creem.io handles:
- Payment processing
- VAT collection and remittance
- Invoice generation
4.2 Pricing
- Prices are displayed in EUR
- All prices include applicable VAT and fees
- Current prices are shown at the point of purchase
- We reserve the right to change prices at any time without notice
4.3 Grandfathering
Active recurring subscriptions will maintain their original pricing. Price changes only affect new subscriptions.
5. Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day no-questions-asked refund policy from the date of purchase. To request a refund, contact us at sponsors@evcc.io. Upon refund:
- Your sponsor token will be immediately invalidated
- You will lose access to all sponsor features
- Refunds are processed through the original payment method
6. Sponsor Tokens
6.1 Token Delivery
Your sponsor token will be sent to you via email after your purchase has been completed.
6.2 Token Usage
- Each token is valid for one evcc instance
- Multiple instances for testing or special setups are permitted (up to 3 instances in the same home)
- Tokens are tied to your purchase and non-transferable
- For recurring subscriptions, tokens lose validity when the subscription ends
6.3 Token Security
- You must not share your token with others
- If your token is accidentally exposed, you must contact sponsors@evcc.io immediately
- Upon receiving your notification, we will within 48 hours:
- Expire your existing compromised token
- Provide you with a replacement token via email
- Confirm the completion of this process
- We reserve the right to revoke tokens that are being abused or shared publicly without replacement
7. Commercial Use
7.1 Current Policy
Sponsor tokens currently permit both private and commercial use.
7.2 Future Commercial Tiers
We will introduce dedicated commercial sponsorship tiers in future versions. Commercial and business users will be required to purchase appropriate commercial licenses when these become available.
7.3 Transition Period
When commercial tiers are introduced:
- We will announce the change on our blog (https://docs.evcc.io/de/blog/) with at least 90 days advance notice
- Existing commercial installations will have 90 days from the announcement date to upgrade to an appropriate commercial license
- After the transition period, commercial use without a commercial license will constitute a violation of these Terms
8. Subscription Management
8.1 Cancellation
You can cancel recurring subscriptions at any time through the creem.io portal at https://www.creem.io/portal/. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
8.2 Auto-Renewal
Recurring subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled.
8.3 No Upgrades
Direct upgrades from recurring subscriptions to lifetime sponsorship are not available. To switch to lifetime, cancel your recurring subscription and purchase a lifetime sponsorship.
9. Support and Documentation
9.1 Community Support
evcc is a community-driven project. We do not provide individual support. Support resources include:
- Comprehensive documentation at https://docs.evcc.io/de/
- Community support via GitHub Discussions at https://github.com/evcc-io/evcc/discussions
9.2 No Warranty
The software is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitations and Disclaimers
10.1 Feature Availability
evcc relies on open APIs and device interfaces that are outside of our control. We do not guarantee that any specific device, integration, or feature will work in your environment, even if listed as supported. You are responsible for verifying compatibility before purchasing a sponsorship. A trial token is available at https://docs.evcc.io/de/sponsorship#trial so you can confirm your setup works as expected prior to purchase.
Features or device support may also be removed in future releases due to:
- Changes in external services or APIs
- Device manufacturer changes
- Low usage or high maintenance complexity
- Other technical or practical reasons
As evcc is local software under your control:
- You are not required to upgrade to newer versions
- You may continue using any previously installed version that contains the features you require
- Feature removals only affect new releases, not your existing installation
- No refunds will be provided for feature changes as you retain full control over your software version
10.2 User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Correct configuration of the software
- Compliance with electrical safety standards
- Ensuring compatibility with your hardware
- Verifying that use of third-party software doesn’t affect your device warranties
- Any consequences of software misconfiguration
10.3 Open Source Nature
The evcc core software remains open source. Sponsorship unlocks additional features but does not change the open source nature of the project.
10.4 Accessibility
evcc is community-driven open-source software. We take accessibility seriously and strive to make evcc usable for everyone, but cannot guarantee compliance with specific accessibility standards. Accessibility improvements are welcomed as contributions at https://github.com/evcc-io/evcc.
11. Liability Limitations
11.1 Cap on Liability
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or your use of evcc shall not exceed the amount you paid for your sponsorship.
11.2 Exclusion of Damages
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of profits or anticipated energy savings
- Hardware damage or increased wear
- Increased energy costs
- Data loss or corruption
- Third-party service disruptions or API bans
- Loss of use or business interruption
11.3 Code Transparency
evcc is open source software. The code is publicly available for inspection at github.com/evcc-io/evcc. You acknowledge that you have the opportunity to review the code and use it at your own risk.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your sponsorship at any time by canceling your subscription through the creem.io portal.
12.2 Termination by Us
We reserve the right to terminate your sponsorship and revoke your token for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Token sharing or abuse
- Use of commercial features without appropriate licensing (when commercial tiers are introduced)
- Any activity that harms the evcc project or community
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your sponsor token will be invalidated
- You lose access to sponsor features
- No refunds will be provided for termination due to Terms violations
12.4 Project Discontinuation
If the evcc project is discontinued:
- No refunds will be provided
- Existing features will continue to work without updates
- We have no obligation to maintain the project or provide continued access
13. Dispute Resolution
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
13.2 Dispute Resolution Process
Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute by contacting us at sponsors@evcc.io.
13.3 Jurisdiction
Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts of:
- Amtsgericht Bersenbrück for claims up to €5,000
- Landgericht Osnabrück for claims exceeding €5,000
You hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue in these courts. Note that EU consumers may have the right to bring proceedings in their country of residence under EU consumer protection laws.
14. Data Protection
Your personal data will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at https://evcc.io/en/datenschutz/. Payment data is processed by creem.io according to their privacy policy.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website at https://evcc.io/terms with an updated effective date. For significant changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will announce them on our blog (https://docs.evcc.io/de/blog/) at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of your sponsorship after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may cancel your subscription at any time.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding evcc sponsorship and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
