When you visit this website, GitHub automatically collects technical information in server log files that your browser automatically transmits. This includes:
- IP address

This data is collected by GitHub for security and stability purposes and serves the technical provision of the website. The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the technical provision and security of the website).
Since GitHub is based in the USA, personal data is transferred to a third country. GitHub has committed to EU standard contractual clauses. For more information, see the GitHub Privacy Policy and the GitHub Data Protection Addendum.
The collected data is stored and processed by GitHub in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not have direct access to these server log files.
Community Telemetry Display
The homepage displays a live widget showing aggregated statistics from the evcc community (e.g., total charging power, number of active users, solar share). This data is provided by our own service api.evcc.io.
When loading this display, no personal data is collected or transmitted from you as a website visitor. The widget exclusively shows anonymized, aggregated data from participating evcc users who have voluntarily opted into the telemetry program. For more information about telemetry participation for evcc users, see our documentation.
Optimizer Service (optimizer.evcc.io)
evcc offers an optional optimizer feature that makes cost-optimal decisions for your energy system. When you enable the optimizer in the user interface, the following data is transmitted to our service optimizer.evcc.io:
- Forecast data: solar yield, electricity prices, feed-in tariffs
- Historical data: your household’s typical consumption profile
- Current state: battery state of charge, connected vehicles, heating demand
The service is hosted on Microsoft Azure in a German data centre. No data is transferred to third countries. The service is stateless – no data is permanently stored on the server. The transmitted data is used solely to calculate the optimisation result and discarded afterwards.
The optimizer is only active when you explicitly enable it in the user interface. Usage requires an active sponsorship. The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (consent through actively enabling the feature).
Alternatively, you can run the optimizer locally to avoid data transmission entirely. For more information, see our documentation.

Since Algolia is based in the USA, personal data is transferred to a third country. Algolia is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. For more information about Algolia’s privacy practices, see the Algolia Privacy Policy.
